By taking two different modes of transportation you will have the opportunity to fully enjoy the Seward Highway via shuttle bus, then on the return to Anchorage be able to take in the grandeur of the Chugach Range, Grandview and Turnagain Arm all while riding on the historic Alaska Railroad.
About the cruise: The Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise is a 6 hour cruise that departs from the Seward Small Boat Harbor and travels through Resurrection Bay to face of Aliak Glacier (an active tidewater glacier). While traveling through Resurrection Bay you will be watching for wildlife and see piedmont glaciers (the ones that are up in the mountains). I have taken the boat trip through the Bay several times and have always seen sea lions, sea otters and a variety of birds (including puffins!). On a few of the trips I have even seen whales (that was awesome).
